I just received my first purchase of bulk palm oil and palm kernel oil. Both came in large jugs (7 pounds of oil in each jug). Thanks to reading some other past entries on this forum, I realized that I would need to melt all the oil and then shake it up really well before using it, to distribute all the oil properties evenly.
To (hopefully!) save myself some future trouble, I spent the afternoon melting the oil in the jugs and then pouring into smaller containers for later use.
My question is.....HOW do you guys typically get these oils to melt???? The oils in my jugs were solid, so I put the jug in a stock pot that was nestled inside another larger stockpot (that had some water in the bottom), to make a pseudo double-boiler type contraption. I'm pretty sure this was not the easiest (or most efficient!) way to do this, so PLEASE share how YOU get the oils to melt (safely).

I use a heating pad or an electric blanket. It does take time though.

My palm oil comes in a thick white tub/bucket. Like the stuff I see painters use, I've seen a lot of them in YouTube soap videos etc. So I just wack the entire thing in the microwave.

In the summer I just put mine outside on the deck. Once it's in smaller containers I melt it in the microwave.

I have this . Which I use for heating 5 gallon buckets of palm oil. Works well. Then I mix and put in 2-pound yogurt containers, which I pop into the microwave for about a minute.
