I've made 6 successful batches- And when I first cut them all they all had nice scents, I was pleased. Now I'm checking on them every day- its been anywhere from a couple of days to 2 weeks and they've all pretty much lost their scents. :( I actually went overboard with the first batch and used too much and my downstairs smelled like Tea Tree for a week STRONG. My husband wasn't too happy. I am definitely using enough- and the are BB so I know they are good quality...need help! TIA

Some scents come back after a full cure. Are you sure it's not nose fatique? How much fragrance did you use per lb. of soap?

Yes, it could be nose fatigue for sure. My daughter told me she smelled alot of "good smells" coming from the hallway where they are curing. For some reason, I can't smell them unless I get one of them right up to my nose. I used 2 oz for a 5 lb batch...was actually trying to keep costs down a little- FOs and EOs are expensive!

Yes, I will just have to bite the bullet on the cost- I lie a strong scent too or why bother? I guess I'll just charge a little more. Thank you :)

For that size batch I would have used about 3.5 ozs.

Mae, there are some customers that like light scents, some that have to have no scent (my friend gets migraines from some smells), so you may want to do some of each. Here is where it is nice to know your customer and area you sell in. That said... when I gift a bar to family or friends the scent is always what they comment on first, or if they get to choose their bar it is always by scent (or no scent).

I've had some trouble getting my fragrance just right in my CP soaps also. But, I did find that in a batch that I thought was not strong enough was actually very nice when I was using it in the shower! I would like to ask how do you manage to weigh the oils? When I try to pour it it all runs down the side of the bottle, very wasteful!! and the scent stays on whatever I put it in. Thanks.

Try pouring your FO over the back of a spoon to keep it from dripping down the side of the bottle. You can also get little pour spouts that fit right into the bottle.

I keep my rubber gloves on, place my pointer finger over the top of the bottle and pour into my container... always on the scale as I measure as I pour. I can controll the pour stream by the amount of pressure over the top of the bottle. When I hit the correct amout I fully cover the top, right the bottle and recap.... since doing it this way I have limited my drips to bearly a drop. That FO and EO are expensive, we need to conserve.
