Don't go beyond 2% on that beeswax, otherwise you're going to start loosing bubbleage.

Hrm, the recipe reckons 2.5% Beesewax... :?
In the Soap Making software, it puts the 'fluffy lather' spot on the bench mark of 4.7

Do you think I should drop it to 2%?

Okies, glad I said something first. :) I won't be attempting this until a) the supply store re-opens next week, and b) Until I have produced at least 3 good batches with the 'newbie' recipe lol.

If I have the beeswax, would I still look at adding in the salt? Or with one, I wouldn't need the other?

I'm soooooooooo excited!! I've had this idea running around my head all week. But with so many failures, I've not wanted to waist the oils and such. Well last night I just couldn't get to sleep and HAD to make it.

Standard recipe (Olive, Palm, Coconut, Castor) but of course I had to go and get fancy adding two colours AND grated orange on top. I actually thought I had enough orange EO to make an Orange batch for a girlfriend of mine (she loves orange), but I didn't so I ended up making it more a 'fruit punch' with some Mango, Papaya etc. Originally it was going to be a white batch with orange swirls, but with the added scents, I decided to do a white batch with orange and green swirls. The grated orange on top was already in the works, so I added that as well.

Using my Crafter's Choice mold. NO Gel (popped it in the freezer as I wanted light colours).

Are you ready?

Ready to see it?

It's very cool....

Ok... here it comes....

Going to show it now....

Ready?

1.... 2....

THREE!

Image

It came out like a CHARM!! Sides pulled away without even the slightest resistance, and while still holding the mold upright, I lightly pushed up with my fingers and the entire batch practically fell out of the mold! I'm assuming that's because it was frozen  But hey, if that's what it takes! My freezer will just start feeling the love!

I'm too scared to cut it lol. I'm going to leave it ALL DAY to thaw. Possibly all night. I don't know, I might be too scared to cut it forever and just use one massive big block of soap, haha. Anyone know a giant in need of soap?

Congrats!

My all-olive Castile is hardening even as I type. Your experience made me want to test my olive oil. By tomorrow at 1, it had better be set up!

Congratulations! What cool looking soap.

(And you'd have missed this if you'd given up with your original post! :D )

My personal rule about cutting frozen soap is that if it is completely frozen (and I have a post on here somewhere about using plastic slab molds, which I freeze solid to unmold easily) I wait an additional 24 hours for it to thaw before I cut. Get a much cleaner cut that way - things turn out pretty jagged otherwise.

Yay, Coolah!! Woo hoo!!
