Teach Soap

Has anyone used Soap Goods as a supply source for all or anything? Has anyone used these two products?

I'd like to make a coffee soap and I found these to products from SoapGoods.com and would like to use them along with using coffee in place of the water for the lye/water . I looked on SoapCalc.net and tried to find Coffee Butter and couldn't find it. Any suggestions on what the SAP value is on it?

For coffee butter use the SAP of soybean.

I don't know if you use a lye calculator or not, but actually lists coffee butter for calculation. I hope it helps you or someone else.

I am also planning on making a coffee-based CP soap with coffee essential oils. I'm very curious to hear what recipe you use and how it turns out!

Remember to mark your product with a disclaimer regarding the use of products with coffee essential oil, as it has been known to cause heart palpitations and is advised against for pregnant ladies and other peoples whose reasons I have currently forgotten (shame on me!).

Yep, really. Caffeine absorbs through the skin in a matter of minutes! (Typically listed between 3 and 5.) The average shower is between 7 and 10 minutes. Logically, the caffeine in the soap has already absorbed into the skin during this time. So kiddos, pregnant women, and people with weakened hearts should not use any product topically (including soaps, shampoos, conditioners, etc. that are washed off) because the absorption rate is very quick and could harm them. (Okay, the kids are just going to be stunted in their growth in extreme conditions, but who needs a teenager hyped up on caffeine in the morning anyway!?)

This makes sense - I actually bought (sorry, that's probably a bad thing to admit here) caffeinated soap a couple years ago for my college-age son as a Christmas gag gift. It was called Shocker Soap or something like that. He said it actually did seem to help him wake up a little faster in the morning, but that could just be the power of suggestion.

No, there's actually science put into this. Caffeine truly absorbs through skin cells and is faster at waking you up than drinking a cup of coffee, as it's an all-over distribution vs. going through the digestive system and then dispersing to the body.

Nat. Geographic had a full 10 page article on caffeine a few years back. I've read it a few times cos it's just so darn cool. ^_~
