Sensitive in what way?
You could try 1/3 jojoba, fractionated coconut, rice bran or a combo of all three
1/3 wax ie beeswax
1/3 butters - mango, shea
A touch of corn starch if need be

Hi all,

This is a good recipe that I have tried for dry skin.
*Note: the original recipe wrote that it have to store in dark bottle, glass bottle...BUT this is quite expensive, so I tried in that: http://www.allinpackaging.eu/index.php? ... 0530&sl=EN This is cheap and good enaough. (it won't be thicken)

Homemade Facial Serum Recipe, Dry Skin

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons Avocado oil
1 tablespoon Jojoba oil
1 tablespoon Rosehip oil
6 drops Jasmine Essential oil
5 drops Sandalwood Essential oil
6 drops Ylang Ylang Essential oil

Directions

Add the carriers oils to a (dark, glass bottle)*. Then add the essential oils, shake well. Apply 2 drops to face and neck. Shake before each use.

I would be reluctant to make a lotion bar for facial use simply on the grounds of possible pore clogging with the solids verses a liquid lotion that would be easier to apply very thinly. Of course, I might be being conservative on the subject.

All the same, having sensitive skin myself, I would not be able to use a product that had much at all in the way of fats such as mango, shea, or cocoa butters. These types of fats are not quickly absorbed by the skin. It makes them great for drier skin areas, but is a source of serious clogging concerns.

I would shy VERY far away from beeswax. Beeswax more readily serves to seal skin against moisture flow in or out. This could be even worse than the fats.

Were I going to approach this, I would take all of that into consideration and ask what type of skin I were formulating for - dry, oily, combination, balanced? For dry skin, I would use mainly butters and liquid oils and be light on the beeswax if any were used. Oily skin I might lay off the fats and go heavier on liquid oils. Unfortunately, there's no clear, good answer for you here. This is something I would write down carefully exactly what you do, mix small batches, and test them out on yourself and friends, keeping notes of experiences and their skin types.

Okay, I know it's been a couple of months, but I came across some information that I feel would be EXCEEDINGLY helpful in progressing with the solid facial bar idea. I learned quite a bit from this compilation including that I was wrong about a few things.

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbj ... ticleid=66

This article is the author's compiled list of oils, butters, waxes, and additives, and their overall properties - to include comedogenic properties (comedogenic essentially means pore-clogging). Long story short, this little reference guide can help you pick oils and waxes that will NOT be very likely to clog pores in a solid lotion bar - or any other application. You may also want to reference it when you're making soaps for sensitive areas of the body as well.

It does seem to indicate that ALL butters clog pores. I'm really not sure how we would go about getting around this other than to use an emulsifying wax instead? You know, I just am not sure. If you HAD to live without butters in a solid bar, what would YOU do??

That's an interesting list, thank you ayianna. Make sure that you don't claim any "therapeutic" properties like they do. Since jojoba oil is technically a plant wax and not an oil, it should not clog the pores.
