Assuming you are starting with a 1 oz. bottle (25 ml), the bottle will hold 5 tsp. or 500 drops.

To make perfume you would need:
15-25% Essential oil
(That would figure out to being 75-125 drops)
4 tsp. alcohol
1/5 tsp. water (20 drops)

Eau De Perfume:
10-15% Essential oil
(That would figure out to being 50-75 drops)
3 1/2 tsp. alcohol
1 tsp. water (100 drops)

Eau De Toilette:
5-10% Essential oil
(That would figure out to being 25-50 drops)
3 1/2 tsp. alcohol
1 1/2 tsp. water (150 drops)

Eau De Cologne:
2-6% Essential oil
(That would figure out to being 10-30 drops)
3 1/2 tsp. alcohol
1 1/3 tsp. water (133 drops)

Splash Cologne:
1-3% Essential oil
(That would figure out to being 5-15 drops)
3 tsp. alcohol
2 tsp. water (150 drops)

Toilet Waters
Essential oils in lots of water (I would use some polysorbate to keep the EO and water mixed)

Alcohol is self preserving. Now if you add any water or any other water based liquid, you will need a preservative.

I'm curious if anyone has ever tried to distill their own essential oils? I was thinking about going this route to create bulk, unique oils for my company. Any ideas?? :wink:

From what I understand 20% or more of alcohol in a formula doesn't normally need a preservative. Anything less then that and you do. I tend to err on the side of caution and use a preservative anywway.
