Hi guys :)

So I did my second batch last night, and I was wondering how long it takes to go hard/firm. I know I shouldn't be touching it lol, but I keep testing the top by veeeeeeery lightly touching it with my finger, and it's still soft and 'moist' feeling. It's currently in the fridge as I left out overnight, but now it's getting humid. I had finished making it by 8:30pm last night, and it's now 11:30am the following morning (so just over 12 hours). Reading that you can unmold after 24 hours, I was expecting at least the very outside to feel smooth and firm by now...

Is it because I poured at a thinner trace? Or have I stuffed something up? :?

If it didn't gel, I would give it a couple of days.

Patience is a virtue!

It could also be from the oils you used. If they were softer oils it will take longer to set up.

It's still soft-ish.... the wait is killing me LOL! It's cruel to make a newbie wait!

Especially because I only have one of the log molds - and really, that's my only CP mold. So I have to wait for this one to be done before I can make more  After Xmas I am going to buy more!

Is it soft like butter, or soft like cheese?

Oh really? Ok... so how do I get it out of the mold easily? When I pull the sides of the mold gently, the soap just moves with it... Should I run a knife or something down the side?

I presume this is a silicone mold? If so, put it back in the fridge or even the freezer. Leave it there til it's good and cold. Then gently pull on the sides of the mold, so the air seal on the bottom gets some air. That will make it easier to turn the mold upside down and wiggle the soap out. I wouldn't use a knife.

Yeah Silicone mold. I've had it in the fridge for 24 hours and it still didn't set :( Might chuck it in the freezer for a bit. Does that ruin the soap any?

Managed to unmold it. When I picked it up to put it in the freezer, one side came away nicely. The other side started to form a crack about 2mm in from the edge though. Turning it upside down and letting the weight of the soap pull it out worked though. Took a while waiting (and tapping on the bottom - as in 'hurry up... hellloooooo" kinda tapping lol), but it came out in one piece. Gotta say, I didn't think it would LOL!

So this is the soap upside down - the top is what was sitting at the bottom of the mold.

This is the side that came away ok on it's own. I couldn't get the camera to focus on the side though, so excuse the blurryness:

This is the side that started to crack about 2mm in from the edge. The weight of the soap ended up pulling it out:

Looks good! You even managed a swirl in there. Good job! Do you have a miter box and a tapping knife?

I have the miter box and a cutter to go with it. What's a tapping knife?
