Teach Soap

Hi, Im from New Zealand & have recently started to make CP soap. Only half a dozen small batches.
Keen on giving HP a go.

I found this forum & have spent a huge number of hours reading & reading & reading...
Thank you all so much for sharing your experience & knowledge.
Got heaps of questions so will try & limit myself before you all lose patience

But while Im here, question #1, If you HP castille do you still need to wait for months for it to harden? Or does it happen 'quicker?'
Plan on using it as a baby soap but the CP version I made is taunting me! 'Use me, use me...' *sigh* patience...

Hi Rochy, and welcome! About the HP castille: you can use it as soon as it's done, but castille is the one soap that improves dramatically the longer you wait! The first time I made castille I took a bar and washed with it once a week starting when it was 5 weeks old. By the time it was 3 months old, there was a very noticable difference in the way it felt. Now I just wait at least 4 months before using it. (It's hard, I know!)

Hi, Rochy, and welcome to the forum! I haven't done HP soap, but from what I understand it's fine to use HP right away, but it's best to let it cure so that water will evaporate, making a harder bar.

Thats what I thought you'd all say, not what I wanted to hear

Good idea to use a bar once a week & 'prove' to myself that patience is a virtue! I'll try that.
