Teach Soap

I'm thinking of making a tie dye effect soap. I'm curious how using food colors in the soap will turn out, i know it will bleed, which i want, but is it ok for skin? I have some paste food colors, which are stronger, i've thought of just going for it and trying it, but if anyone has any advice or tips about this, it would be really helpful.

Obviously you know the paste is much more concentrated than the liquid coloring that comes in the little teardrop bottles. I’ve used the liquid food coloring in MP soap without issue… other than bleeding. The amount of food coloring used generally does not color the skin. However, this all depends on how much you use--

You’ll definitely need to dilute the paste colorant in some type of carrier oil so that it can be incorporated into the soap.

If anything, make a small 4 oz batch by pouring a few colors on top of each other, and test it out a few days later to see if you the expected results.

I have in my notes that one of the red food colorants is not safe for soap use. If I can find it in my notes I'll post which one it is.
Mitch, most food colorants are water based, so adding it to oil won't mix.

Thanks. Any other tips to dilute the paste color? I think i remember Ann Marie diluteing lab colors or something with rubbing alcohol, maybe i can try to use that. Maybe this weekend i will give this a try, and post results.
