Dear Soapbuddy, What would happen if i add nettle leaf powder for color after trace with a hot process method? Some books say add colorants after the cook. Would this effect the soap making process or just the color outcome?

Hi Jilly! I'm not soapbuddy, but here goes...It shouldn't affect the process, but it might change the color since the lye will be active. After the cook the lye is no longer active so the color shouldn't morph.

I would infuse your nettle leaf in one of your soapmaking oils. Then use that oil for your soap. If you add the nettles (not infused) after the cook, you won't get the same color.

Thanks! I'm on deck waiting for brambleberry shipment to arrive. I will try this nettle powder and see what shade of green i get. Sorry for posting my question in the wrong category. :oops:
