For my cafe mocha soap, I use triple strength coffee instead of water and add the used grounds at trace. For the FO, I used 1/2 of BB's rrich dark chocolate FO and 1/2 of a coffee tincture (6 oz of everclear over 2 cups coffee grounds shaken every day and let sit for a week. I use it in the same amounts as I would a FO) The grounds turn into a sludge in the tincture, which I don't worry about going into the soap if they get drawn up when I pull off the amount I need.

Biggest problem with using a grain alcohol based scent is that you'll get a very hot gel phase. NO extra insulation is needed when I use my wooden molds (just like when I make a beer soap.)

I haven't used a coffee FO, since this combo is a huge hit.[/i]

Heh.

Got lots of comments about "hootch punch" when I picked up the bottle.

I use about 2oz of the tincture in a 8 pound batch of soap (along with about 1.8 oz of the Dark Chocolate) so that run of tincture is still around, getting stronger.

BTW, the everclear turned the coffee into sludge within the first day. Some potent stuff! Not something I'd recommend drinking. (Of course, I might have been tempted in my much younger days.)

When I used a coffee FO it smelled bitter so I rebatched with creme brulee and cinnamon coffee cake. Now it smells like a caramel brownie and I have craved brownies the whole time it cured I used triple strength hazelnut coffee and added the grounds at trace. I have not used it yet because I added too much liquid and it is taking FOREVER to harden! OH well.......better than swamp gas.
