Very nice soaps, Ashlee! The color is great, and I love lavender.

Soaphel, those are super cute cupcake soaps! 8)

Ashlee, I love the tops of your soap! Congrats on finding your perfect recipe ;)

soaphel, those cupcakes are fantastic! What are the sprinkles on the last one -- are they real sprinkles or yet some other kind of soap?

Not soap, but highly soap-related, so I hope it's okay to post these here!

After agonizing over where to buy a wooden mold and not finding one to the exact size I want, I spent my soaping time this weekend making a pair of my own breakdown molds instead:

Next project, maybe sometime over the winter: a slab mold. I wonder how hard it would be to make dividers out of corroplast...

Wow, super cool, Jenova! It's awesome that you can make your own molds like that. I wish I were handy and could build and fix things. If you give me a set of tools, I can put together a disaster, but that's about it.

Jenova, Great job on the mold. I am sure after doing such a great job on that you could figure out a slab mold with dividers!

Hi Susie do you have any idea what caused the over heat?

Jenova very cool mold and the liner is cool too.

That's too bad it overheated. Sugar, honey, milk or some fragrances can make your soap overheat, or if you insulate too much.

Mella, I think a number of things caused it to overheat = 1. Milk soap 2. the scent was sweet roasted chestnut, I smell some spice in there 3. Because I hate partial gel I put it in the oven got busy and did not check it until the hour timer went off. Usually I'm checking every 10 to 15 minutes. But at least I got to try a rebatch. I do like the scent.

Jenova, Have heard of alot of different stones but that one was a new one on me. My initial colors were cappucino mica, yellow oxide, why this went green I'll never know, and red brick oxide. The rebatched color looks like a brownie to me.

The brownies look good! I think if you did a blue drop, red drop and green drop of food coloring you'd get brown!

Another poster whose name I don't recall, someone new starting out mentioned fright when seeing these fails.

Your synopsis of the cause of the heat failure was very observant and a good call. Probably the oven finished it off! Don't ask me how I know!

Just wanted to say to the newbie that this is why we take notes on each batch for future reference and building our knowledge base.

If you don't know what you did (and you won't tomorrow), then you can't fix it.

Too bad that the mantra soap overheated, Susie - it was very pretty. The rebatched soap is pretty, too, though! 8)
