I recently got my hands on some star-shaped silicone molds. I'm thinking red and green stars, and maybe some metallics. But I'm not sure how to scent them.

I bought some "Christmas" scents a while back, and was disappointed in most of them. (Smelled like the perfume my grandmother used to wear!)

I've conducted a fairly informal poll (okay, my sister and the nice lady at Michael's who sold me the star molds), and the common consensus seems to be cinnamon. I have a cinnamon FO, and also clove and nutmeg EOs. I have an FO that is a balsamy-pine-ish thing (smells better than I described it). Also one of the few Christmas FOs I got that I like, "Snow Place Like Home", which is kind of like stepping out into freshly fallen snow and taking a deep breath of that cold, clean air. I may try to come up with some kind of blend of those. Any other ideas?

I mean, if you had been in a coma, and woke up not knowing it was Christmas, were blindfolded and had ear plugs put in so you couldn't hear Christmas carols being sung, if the only sense available to you was smell, how would you know it was Christmas?

Hm, for me, definitely the pine/fir scent of a fresh wreath or tree. Cinnamon and spice could be Thanksgiving too, at least in my household, but that pine's only around one time of year!

Runner-up might be eggnog...

I have to agree with pine and the crisp winter air. There's just nothing like it throughout the rest of the year. Add in a little peppermint and sugar cookies or pecan pie for the "indoor" Christmas scents as well ^_^

To me it's a combo of juniper, pine, spruce, vanilla and orange.

Christmas trees, snow, fresh baked cookies, hot cocoa and a crackling fire. 8)

I am in agreement with pine! The apple, cinnamon and carmel is all around fall. Now if someone could actually get the scent of frosted christmas cookies that would be great. There are times when I open the cookie container just to smell them! Right now my memory tells me vanilla, almond and something else very sweet would be the mix. Ok... now I want one, darn it!
I do also consider peppermint a christmas scent, but yet have very few memories to associate with it.

Right now my house smells like Christmas! I just made 2 batches of soap (after abstaining from soapmaking for 2 months! ) My first batch was with an FO called Christmas Wreath from WSP. It smells very pine-like and clean (NOT like pine-sol). The second batch was with another WSP FO called Bergamot & Mandarin. I wish I had realized how great these two scents were together before I made 2 separate batches!!! I am definitely going to order more and use both of them in a single soap. Wow! :D

I actually just did a blend of fir and some other stuff to try to make an evergreen EO blend, with a tiny dab of peppermint to make it "cooler", it worked out really nicely :) A little goes a long way with peppermint, though!

Linda, glad you are back to soaping! I hate having to "take a break". Are you saying that you would mix the christmas wreath with the mandarin\bergamot? For halloween I mixed bergamot and patch..... Love it!
