Teach Soap

I've been getting my soap base from WSP (Wholesale Supplies Plus). I haven't had any problems with it, I have actually had really good success with it.

However, I'm seeing that a lot of people prefer the BB soap base. I'm looking at the ingredients, which I actually know! So that part is appealing to me. Granted, because of shipping prices (out in VA), my costs go up a bit. I'm starting to do a few craft fairs here and there and it makes a difference to my profit margin. Not a huge hit, but one nonetheless.

For those of you that have used both, why do you prefer one over the other? I'm assuming most will say they prefer BB, but what are your reasons? I'm ordering a few pounds to experiment with. If I'm going to switch I was hoping to have some opinions on why they prefer the BB base. Thanks!

Well I prefer WSP goatsmilk and clear over BB. I like the smell and the feeling of the goatsmilk better and the clear is more clear and it doesn't have that yellow tint. I prefer BB shea and honey over WSP because the shea is way more creamy and the honey isn't sticky. I also like the fact that BB has way more "flavors" of m & p - hemp being one of them. Basically I purchase about the same amount of supplies from both vendors.

WSP MP base is a syndet bar made with synthetic surfactants. BB Base is more natural. That's most likely why it has a yellow tinge.

WSP base is NOT considered soap and is made from synthetic surfactants. These surfactants are made from oils, fats, or petroleum products that are processed in some way other than saponification. Saponified oils are the ingredients that make soap, soap.

I only use the WSP Extra Clear in very small quantities when I need the clarity (fish in a bag for a kids' birthday) or I'm embedding a picture close to the surface of a bar of soap.

The BB bases (some are private-label SFIC bases) are terrific. There's a good supplier of SFIC bases in Georgia (www.soapgoods.com) which will save you some money in shipping.
