Hi all,

I would like to use the additives honey, goat’s milk, and oatmeal all in powder form to my 3lb batch. How do I go about using the correct amount? I’d like to use as much as possible of each ingredient. Also in the future when I use additives, is there a difference in the amount of dry and wet ingredients to use in a batch, something like a guide line?

Thank you.

I use powdered goat's milk at 1 scoop (comes with the can) per pound of oil. I found that if I use more than that my soap tends to overheat. I stick blend it into my oils before adding my lye water. I think the general rule for ground oatmeal is 1 Tbsp per pound of oils. I've never used powdered honey, tho.

You're welcome! I hope someone else can tell you about the powdered honey. I'm curious about that, too!

I have used 1 tsp. of honey powder diluted in some water per lb. of soap. Any more then that and my soap overheats.

I use goat's milk powder at 1 TBSP per pound of oils. For a 2 pound and 12.9 oz batch I used 2.5 tablespoons and then took out half a cup of my water before adding the lye to it. Then made a slurry and added this at trace. It turned out great.
