Teach Soap

I made this batch yesterday and it was my first time using palm oil. After I cut it, there were these spots...are these stearic spots? Or lye pockets? I made sure to melt the tub of palm oil down and stir really good first.

If the spots don't zap, then it looks like stearic acid. At what temp did you combine your oils and lye? Did it gel?

no zap and yes, it gelled. The lye was at 100 degrees and the oils about 115...also, the fo accelerated on me too, but I was able to get everything mixed thoroughly and poured-stickblended about 5 seconds before it started thickening up, so I used a whisk to keep stirring it. I hope it's not ruined! I didn't see any separation either.

I have seen this with a recipe i did with palm oil. I used spectrum organic palm shortening. What does stearic acid spots mean? Is it bad? How can you prevent it?
