Teach Soap

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping one of the experts can help me. I'm obsessed with making a blueberry soap using all things blueberry. Blueberry oil, blueberry butter, blueberry tea, blueberry seeds, and anything else I can think up. It will be a very small batch so I'm ok with the splurge

Where I'm running into trouble is the sap values for the blueberry oil. I don't see it on the most common soap calculators. I did go back to the websites of the vendors to see if the SAP value was listed and didn't see anything. Any suggestions?

You might just want to email the vendors (particularly the one where you got the oil) about the SAP value Do they sell other soap stuff as well? (Would they know what a SAP value was? XD; )


I've had to ask after coffee butter before -- it's not on a lot of calculators because it's a blended product, and vendors' blends seem to vary widely. For the first one I tried, I was told (by the vendor) to use the SAP for palm oil, so I suppose that was part of the blend. I have another that's made with soy butter -- totally different XD

Thanks! I did speak with the vendor (LotionCrafters) and they suggested that I use the SAP value of Cranberry Seed Oil. I also called MMS and they suggested the same thing. I'm going to give Brambleberry a call and if all three say the same thing - I'm going for it .

I think if I do it again, I'll replace the blueberry oil with something else. It's just one of those things that I have to try once and then I can let it go .

Glad it worked out for you. Most fruit will not add any color in the end with a few exceptions.
