Hi All!

I'm brand new to soaping, but LOVE IT! So excited to join this community and learn from all of you talented soapmakers! I have a question about oils. I know sweet almond oil is great in sugar scrubs. What other oil/M&P recipes make great soaps?

Thanks everyone for your advice! I'm looking forward to learning and sharing with everyone!

Welcome!
There are many different bases. It depends which qualities you are looking for. As far as adding oils, I don't go above the 1 TBS. per lb. of base rule.

Grapeseed oil has lots of good qualitites. Borage Oil is great for aging skin. Coconut Oil really good for dry or sensitive skin. Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter also make a nice addition. Lately I've been loving aloe butter and avocado butter too. Yum! Have a look at http://www.ofasimplenature.webeden.co.uk for some ideas. They have loads of really sexy funky oils there. Some nice exotic ones, and usually they will tell you the various benefits of them and how to use. You can always then look to buy the ingredients more locally to you if you get some ideas from looking at what they have... but I love them myself. Great customer service, really friendly staff, good quality and reasonable prices.
