Teach Soap

Hello! I am VERY new to all of this. I am wanting to make a nice creamy lotion with fresh goats milk. I have reading various posts and have to admit I am getting somewhat confused and scared.

I found this recipe:

Distilled water 79% 12.64 ozs
Coconut oil 7% 1.12 ozs
Shea Butter 4% 0.64 ozs
E-wax NF 3% 0.48 ozs
Sweet Almond Oil 5% 0.8 ozs
Steric Acid 1% 0.16 ozs
Preservative

Ok, my question will start with the preservative - I had already purchased Phenonip, now I have reviewed the Preservative info post. I am assuming that Phenonip will alright to use in this receipe although it does not indicate at what temp to add it. The other thing is that I have been reading about the goats milk and from what I can figure out I should use 10% goats milk and 90% distilled water. Would that be ok?

Also with this recipe, is there a good exchange that can be used in place of the Shea Butter?

Phenonip has no temp restrictions and it's used at 0.5%-1.0% . Personally, I would use milk at 10% max; the rest as distilled water. You can sub any butter for butter and any oil for oil.

Ok, I am going to use this recipe but I have a question on the amount of goats milk. I know to use 90 % distilled water and 10% goats milk.

The recipe calls for 79% or 12.64 ounces of distilled water. Now the goats milk will change that to 71.1% distilled water and 7.9% goats milk- how do convert the % to ounces?

If your total water is 12.64 but you want to sub some for the goats milk, then you would use 1.26oz of the goats milk and 11.38 oz of distilled water. That would give you the 10% and 90%.
