Teach Soap

Hi, I'm nw to this forum & would like to introduce me as a soap lover.

for the past few weeks i'm i'm trying to make a clear soap without using any alcohol in it. i'm successful with it but i have to major issues.
1. Sweating
2.lack of foam
i use 30% of white sugar with the formula, it may be the reason for sweating, to get the the clarity & the hardness i need sugar. can't use stearic since it creates cloudiness.
can anyone help me???

also i'm using 6% of lye with 30% of oils, is it not enough??? cause i don't have much foam with the product.

pls help....!!!!

I make handmade translucent soap, but I do use alcohol. I don't know your way. Did you make up this recipe, or did it come from a book or the internet?

i used internet to learn many this on clear soaps. but this was my own creation. i used Glyserine & sugar to improve the transpharency, but sweating is the issue... i just need help to avoid it...

Glycerin and sugar are both humectants. Glycerin is used in pre-made bases, but if it's used in a high amount, I can see how it would sweat. Glycerin soap will sweat in humid environment too.

i'll start it again by varying the percentages of Glycerin & Sugar...

by the way, i have done a clear soap with Ethanol also, but the trancepharancey was not up to standard. can u help me with it. what are the weaknesses with my formulation.

With this kind of a recipe, your soap will never be completely clear. More like light amber color. The only true way to get a clear soap is to use synthetic ingredients. Take a look at the ingredients in this clear soap kit. http://www.essentialwholesale.com/Basic ... t-and-Pour

Propylene Glycol
Vegetable Glycerin
70% Sorbitol Solution
Bio-Terge 804
Stearic Acid
Myristic Acid
Triethanolamine (TEA)

Hi Irena,

there's a good news, i did the trials & succeeded about 90% by now. clarity & the hardness is good, but foaming is little bit weaker & also found small amount of sweating.
now i'm working on it to increase the foaming & reduce sweating.
will get back to U if i needed more help on this...
