Teach Soap

I had the bright idea to try and make a full batch of soap, but to split it and make two different scents. I was going to make a lemongrass soap and a vanilla soap. Once I got a light trace I separated out the soap by eyeballing it. That is when I noticed that the vanilla ate away the plastic cup I used to measure it out in (I am not the brightest crayon in the box it seems). So, I panic... I then pour about half of the soap that I was going to use for the vanilla into the lemongrass container. I then mix the little bit of vanilla that was left in the bottle. There wasn't much. Maybe 1/5 of the bottle. I add an extra ounce to the lemon grass scent for the soap I had set aside for it.

I think I did a decent job at eyeballing the soap when I was separating it out. Judging from my containers about 80% of the soap ended up being lemongrass and about 20% vanilla.

The vanilla soap was smooth when I was pouring it, the lemongrass was a little clumpy .

We'll see what it looks like in a day or two

Oh no! Yes, EO's or FO' can eat away at plastic. Get yourself some glass beakers from a Science Surplus store or glass shot glasses. Those sometimes can be found in thrift stores for cheap.

Yep, going to have to toss it all except the the small batch of vanilla. In my confusion I mixed the lemon and the vanilla together. Talk about a stinky combination

Lol, maybe I should get a second opinion before I toss it all. I must not be a big fragrance person because I think alot of scents stink.

I did the same thing last week when i put eo into a plastic measuring cup - so yesterday i went op shopping and found 20c shot glasses

Your lemon vanilla doesn't smell good to you? I make soapy-cakes with a vanilla base and a lemon EO frosting. People grab them up. Maybe you'll like it better after it rests for a few more days.

My 5 year old said that it smelled good! I posted a picture of the cut loaf in the sticky thread. It looks really cool right now, but soapbuddy informed me that it will eventually turn totally brown. Maybe I can do a lemon/vanilla swirl with a vanilla top next time so it will stay pretty.
