Teach Soap

I made a batch of soap with patchouli a couple of days ago. Am I the only one that thinks it stinks? My aunt used to be a soaper and she said that the patchouli soap was one of her best sellers . I am disappointed because it was expensive. I saw on BB some of the mixture suggestions and one was 2 parts lavender to 1 part patchouli. I'll try that with what I have left.

I love Patch! The older, the better. 20 yr. old Patchouli smells amazing.

Hi, SunnySide! I think patchouli is one of those scents that you either love or hate. I love straight patchouli, but my mom absolutely hates it. She seems to like it okay in a blend, though. I made an orange patchouli soap and she loved that. She also liked my lavender patchouli, too. I did both at a 3:1 orange/lav:patch ratio, but play with the amounts and see what you like. I think trying a blend would be a great way to use the patchouli, and you might find a blend that you really like!

I just made a body butter with lavender and patchouli (and a teeny amount of 2 other EOs I can't really smell) and it smells AMAZING. The patchouli is what - to my nose anyway - is left after the "dry down" on my skin. So I smell the lavender first but then this subtle but spicy scent remains.

That's serious dedication. I hope you're planning to charge a premium for the resulting products? Or will you hoard them all for yourself?

Between your finely aged patchouli and your amber infusions how do you keep the men away?

GOOD GAWD WOMAN! That's insane!

And to think I was feeling guilty about my soap supplies taking over a couple cabinets in our kitchen!

Now I'm beyond jealous. I'm utterly green with envy.

So are ANY of those for your soap biz? Or is this quite literally your personal fragrance cabinet?!? Hehe. Use the patchouli for yourself, even if you have to ration it out in drips and drops! Please!

@ SunnySide - I don't like patchouli either! I guess it's because I've never smelled 20 yr old patch...

Irena: I am finally making enough soap to order 4-8 oz of an FO at a time and am just getting started with the EOs. So far I don't even need a cabinet - they all fit into a 12 inch box!

My EOs are in a box too in a cabinet. But that box is maxed out so now I may need to ... you know ... buy a big China cabinet like Irena's.

So I can fill it. Mwahahahahaha.
