to Soapbuddy, hello maam.. i just wanna ask if the lye calculation results of bramble berry lye calculator is 0% super fat? or it has already some percentage of super fat. if so how many percent. First of all, i like her lye calculator due to its completeness in terms of base oils. almost all base oils are there. Like me, Im using vegetable shortening because its cheap, about 50% of the total fat requirement for every batch i did. This could cut my cost down. Back to my concern, I wanna ask this because i do not know if i still need to adjust the suggested lye weight if i want to superfatting it.

While I am not SB, I can tell you that you choose your own super fatting percentage. It is right at the bottom of the calculator on the main page when you load it.. Just put in what percentage you like and then check your oils and go from there. The amount of lye will then be right for whatever percentage you chose.

Try 7% superfat; especially in smaller batches, where there's room for error.
