Teach Soap

Hi there all just me again hope no one getting sick of me i just don't know where to start i've made two big loafs of MP and now want to start a basic CP soap. I want to add some colour and FO just to make it look nice I've read lots of books about CP soaps but i really like the help from my soapmaking friends PLEASE HELP ME WITH A BASIC CP RECIPE JUST TO GET ME STARTED

The front page of teachsoap.com has links to tons of excellent recipes including beginner recipes, so go check those out ^_^ Make sure you read the on the CP Forum so you know how to be safe and we've been sharing lots of other tips for beginners over at this .
As for colors and fragrance and stuff... try a simple batch without fragrance first, this way you know what trace looks like. Fragrance can be tricky sometimes and cause all sorts of different things to happen to a batch of soap (seizing, ricing, accelerating trace, slowing trace, etc.). And when you do try a fragrance, make sure you read all the information about it that you can! Usually the online store sites will warn you whether the fragrance will accelerate trace or slow trace, cause discoloration, if the scent fades in CP. Try and choose a well behaved FO first before attempting the harder ones. I'm still fairly new at soaping and have been shying away from purchasing the hard to use FOs because I want to get comfortable with the good ones first... plus, I need to buy a crockpot just in case I need to rebatch or HP any soap-gone-wrong, hehe!
So read all you can as there are tons and tons of helpful topics already discussed and currently being discussed on this forum which will help you out with your own CP adventure!

Definitely start out with a smaller (1-2#) batch and don't add any fragrance or color to it. Some colorants can accelerate trace too. I have a chrome green oxide that I love but I end up with soap on a stick every time I use it!
Also, be sure to run any recipe you use through a lye calculator to be sure you are using the correct amount of lye. Make sure you have a good scale and for small batches measure in grams for better accuracy. You don't need a bunch of fancy oils & butters, you can make a great soap with just 65% olive & 35% coconut oils.
