So there is a lotion I love and I was going to try and amke it myself but the ingredient list is lacking a preservative/emulsifier. Do you have to list it I'm pretty sure the following ingredients need it, since this is for myself and I'm not that sensitive can you recommend what preservative/ emulsifier you would use for these ingredients. Thanks ladies. Also what ratio do you think? Is goats milk at store i.e paturized ok to use or should i use dehydrated?

Sunflower Oil, Aloe, Shea Butter, Glycerin, Honey, Goats Milk

The ingredients that you listed together with nothing else are a recipe for disaster. Whether it's just for you and eventually for sale, always keep good notes. I would list ALL ingredients, not just a partial list. Try E-Wax NF or Polawax for your emulsifier and take a look at the preservative info that I listed as a sticky. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5032

Thanks a bunch. I thought these ingredients needed emulsfier and preservative because of a previous convo. with you guys. I have to say as one of those many ignorant buyers I am so happy I discovered this forum. Jeez so much is listed wrong out there and before I really never knew such as Castille (OO only), vanilla( is FO NOT EO) so many lies or mistruths, That was all that was actually listed on the lotion I bought from the store and thought they were missing other ingredients and now I know for sure. I will pick up some phenonip and polawax on my next order again thanks for helping me avoid issues.

Just a small addendum. :) Vanilla is not an EO per se, but the real thing is a absolute. Anytime there is water or a water based ingredient in a lotion, you need a preservative. Otherwise it's a mixture of oils/butters and it's called a lotion bar. In that case, you don't need an emulsfier or a preservative for a lotion bar.
