Why are my soaps all looking like poop? I can't get the colors that *do* turn out, vivid enough, and the colors I try to make either up turning super dark (and sudsing that color!!) or morphing into something I didn't intend (like poop brown).

These are the oils I'm using for this particular run-through:
Palm 12 oz
Coconut 12 oz
Olive 14 oz
Shea 2 oz

Now, I will admit that the Palm is yellowish and the Olive is darker than I've usually been using (therefore turning my intended blue, green) but I'm not understanding when trying to get green, I got a pink color. I did use green tea instead of water, but with these latest batches I've been using TiO2. The green soap (lime-scented) that turned pinkish? I cut into it and it has yellow-green bits in the middle. To make green I mixed blue and yellow. I've been using Bramleberry's labcolors for CP. I know I need practice, but these are expensive lessons. Does anyone have any advice? (Oh, I'm making about 3.5 pounds of soap per batch when you factor in the water, so they are pretty small)

If you are using blue that's FD&C Blue #1, that one turns purplish in soap, not blue. Yellow palm, green olive, Blue #1 and yellow for color will make brown. Fragrances with any vanilla content will make the soap brown also. If you want green, I would suggest using ultramarine green.

I knew about the vanilla but not the other things! Thank you! I'll look into getting some ultramarines! I guess labcolors aren't meant to work for me. Everyone makes it look so easy!

plus, you should base your additive amounts on the weight of the oils, not the oils plus water.

I usually do .8-1.0 oz ppo. Depends on the fragrance.
