Teach Soap

Hello,

I've made a few batches of palm free soaps and they smell great but not as strong as I'd like compared to my palm oil soaps. Is there a trick to getting the scent to stick. I've heard of orris root but don't like the scratchy feel of it. Any other ideas?

I don't know that palm oil has anything to do with fragrance sticking. All I know is that when I make my regular soaps with palm the scents in those are way stronger and stick better then my palm free ones so trying to figure out why and how can I get my palm free soaps to smell as good as my regular bars do?

Very interesting. I don't use palm at all and my scents stick. Which FO or EO are you using and at which amount or %?

So I have read somewhere in the past that a touch of clay in a batch will help the fragrance hold. Perhaps this is an urban legend!

I use a Rose FO or a Rosemary/Mint EO combo and my normal recipe has palm, PKO, coconut, shea or cocoa butter, castor, soybean oil, and rice bran oil (well that changes sometimes). Lately I've been CPOPing due to time constaints.

My new recipe I'm experimenting with uses olive, coconut, castor and grapeseed oil and I made the Rose soap using the CPOP method. There is a scent but it's stronger in my regular recipe. Same thing with the rosemary/mint combo.
