Wow! That's an expecive mold. I just roll them or use a melon baller. I have a mold for that makes half balls, but it's a pain in the rear end to use.

For CP soap, I just roll them in my hands.

That's what I was wondering . . . whether using a mold would be a big pain in the butt. But I'm going for a look like the ones in the video below, so I don't know if hand-rolling the balls would be neat enough. Maybe using a melonballer is the way to go (?) I wonder if I'd need a special recipe to make sure the soap is soft enough to scoop out?

Go through her videos, she uses a melon baller for hers.

I don't use a different recipe when I do soap balls, I just do it when I unmold it. I also roll random balls from soap ends that I don't intend on saving for my own use, and are too smal to use as samples.

I watched that video and when I read the comments below, I saw that one person said they thought using the melon baller was a lot of work and that they had a mold for making the balls. So I guess it can be done both ways. I was just wondering which might be the easiest, quickest way. I did find out that Bramble Berry has a 3D mold for making soap balls, so I'm considering trying one.

Anyone here used that 'Sphere' BB mold?

If you are referring to this mold then it works great for MP soaps, but because of the small opening and how long it would take to fill I don't think you would have much luck with CP soap in this mold.

I watched both of her video's.(Love her accent!). I have done soap balls by just hand rolling. But mine are the very large size. I did find that if I wore a pair of latex gloves to roll - the surface was smoother. I would like to try the melon baller and then roll them so they are completely round. Don't know if that would work. Also wonder if you spaced the removal of the balls just right and then poured some fresh soap of a different color and cut into bars if that would make for an interesting soap?? :?

I was just thinking that same thought today as I watched Karen do the melon ball thing ^_^
I absolutely adore her videos and her signature "Hi hi, everybody!" I've been watching her videos since about the time I found Anne-Marie's videos ^_^ Both are in my top 5 for internet video personalities! Hehe! (2 are from Yogscast on youtube who do a lot of videogame stuff including Minecraft, and the other is FPSRussia because he gets his hands on the most awesome guns- though you do have to ignore his fake Russian accent ^_^;; )
I actually went out to the stores today to locate some soaping tools and it was a total bust as I came home with nothing... I couldn't even find a melon baller! The only one I found had a sharp point on the opposite end for coring and it didn't feel very safe to me :(

I've also tried rolling my own soap into balls, but I don't think they were fresh enough because I ended up with lots of cracks in them...

They don't have to be perfectly round. That's what make them handmade. :D

I just made some soap balls for the first time today. My soap didn't come very cleanly out of the mold and so I scraped it out and made big and smaller balls. They came out pretty even. How long do I have before I absolutely HAVE to put them in soap? I won't be able to make more til the weekend.
