I am very new to soap making and have seen on some of the you tubes people spritzing with something. I am guessing it is alcohol?? I want to have everything in place before I make that 1st batch. I don't remember reading it in The Complete Soapmaker book. Thank you ahead for your response.

That is for Melt & Pour type soap and NOT CP soap. It takes out bubbles on top and helps for imbeds.
Again, not for CP soap. Have fun with your first batch!

Mostly I only use it for MP - a must have for me.

I do use it in some CP as it stops ash. Some FO's may ash more than others, so if you have a really textured top (ie not smooth and flat) it is difficult to cover with plastic to to contact with the air which can exacerbate ashing.

By liberally spritzing with alcohol on the textured tops the ash doesn't develop.

I have not had good results from using it on CP soap. I get a gummy texture. ( Just my 2 cents.)

I've tried it with my CP cause I heard it stops ash. I still got the ash...but not as much and it made the tops of the soap gummy.
