I have another addition:

Handmilling soap doesn't look nearly as smooth as fresh, once-poured CP soap. It's not that it looks worse. It just looks different, more rustic, more textured. And often, it's softer for weeks after you make it (compared to the same timeline with CP soap).

I've posted a photo of rebatching soap (notice the varied texture) as well as a fresh CP batch. I'm hoping the photos are decent enough for you to see the difference.

Wow! That is a big difference! :shock:

I still plan to mill this batch but may rethink my strategy for the next batch. I like the idea of making the soap from scratch but don't want to waste time either.
