I once saw a CP maker at a craft fair that made a liquid soap from shavings of scrap soap she made. I talked to her and she said that she just added water and melted on the stovetop. Then she poured it into a foaming dispenser. I tried this and it seemed ok at first but it got all gloppy by the next day and clogged the foamer. Has anyone ever done this? I'm guessing that she added alcohol or some other additive to stop the slimy effect. Any suggestions would be great. I am trying to make a natural liquid soap for my family to use in the kitchen for germ reasons I don't use bar soap in the kitchen.

Straight CP soap and water will make snot. Maybe the foamer had so much water as opposed to soap that hers worked?

You do not need much soap to make one of the foaming dispensers work and foam a lot. My Mom re-used her commercial bottle by just adding a bottle full of water to it, when it was empty.....3 times! It still is pumping out a ton soapy bubbles, so she made her money back on that purchase for sure!

Would making liquid soap from CP scraps and water work in a regular pump dispenser without clogging? What would the ratio of scraps to water be?

That is not really liquid soap making. That is a redneck version, and living in Appalachia country I can use that term! You certainly can try it, experiment with it, use it and may even like it. But selling it as liquid soap is really a stretch in my opinion.

Thanks for the insights everyone. I defientely don't want to sell it. I only want it for my kitchen so maybe I will just keep buying liquid soap for the kitchen instead.

You could try rebatching all of your soap leftovers into soap balls to use in the kitchen. :D

I use the "Redneck" version for dish soap. Works great for us, we go through a ton of it, and I'm very "hoardy" with my liquid batches, I won't let it get run down the drain in the kitchen.

I have tried it in the foaming pumps, and had to use more water than soap that I felt it wasn't really worth it.
Soap ends or misbatches and hot water work great in the squeezy bottles for my dishes though. :)

I save all my soap ends and scraps and rebatch them. I add ground oatmeal and give the rebatched soap to my SIL. He loves it and doesn't care if it is "secondhand soap."
