I was recently told by a client of mine that her dermatologist told her not to use all natural soaps because the olive oil will clog her pores and keep her skin from breathing, really, I never heard this before and found nothing on-line to back it up, anyone???

Olive oil was one of the first oils ever used for cosmetic purposes. It is high in vitamins and minerals, and helps to maintain the correct water balance and acidity level for the body, both internally and externally. Olive oil, when applied to the skin, can bind to clogged oils in the pores and release them from the skin. Because olive oil is noncomedogenic, it will not re-clog the pores. So the short answer is no, that is not true.
ETA; but he may be slightly worried because it is perceived as a heavier oil. Still, he is incorrect. It is great for your skin.

I can personally vouch for that! I made some 100% olive oil goat's milk soap and have been using it to wash my face every day and my skin has never felt better! It takes my makeup off and everything and doesn't feel the least bit drying.

I wondered about this too, most of my soaps are higher in OO. When it comes to soap, which oils are pore-clogging? When I'm searching for information, one site will say this oil (can be any oil I use) is pore-clogging, yet another site will say it's not.

Some people say lard and tallow soaps are pore clogging, but we use lard soap at home all the time and haven't had a problem.

http://www.beautymagonline.com/pages/co ... metic_.htm This link has a nice listing of many ingredients and their Comedogenic score. There is also one I saw...I think it was on soapnuts, but I never double checked it for accuracy and the comments at the top made me think I should. Anyway, if you are looking for something you cant find, if you google the comedogenic score of that ingredient, you will usually get it. There is a consumer education group for cosmetic information that lists all the scores, for comedogenic and cancer contributing, and the like, but I cant think of the name at the moment. If I remember later I will add it.
