Karri,

I like them. And just because it is the other side of the mold does not mean it won't become the top. I like the texture on it! Welcome to the world of soapmaking. In all of the crafts I have tried this one is my most fulfilling.

Very nice! I would try freezing the mold. That should make it easier for the soap to get out.

Thanks both of you!

Re scent: I didn't add any fragrance so right now it sort of smells like ... wet oatmeal with cocoa powder  Am hoping that the smells of the butters and cocoa take over a little once it cures but I'll let ya know!

Re freezing: should I just pop it in the freezer right away and leave it overnight? Or do you think it might need another day to cure? It's only been since yesterday that I poured this one.

Thanks again! And YES, I'm already finding this craft to be incredibly fulfilling and I'm someone who has sort of resisted taking up a craft ... but I'm in LOVE with this one.
Karri

jrose; I like the ribbons of color as well!
Kari; welcome to the addiction! Your soap looks pretty but I would not expect the coco powder to afford you any scent in the finished bar. It is nice to color with though.

I havent shown any soap in a very long while, so here is one that is curing now. The scent is Red Tea and it smells divine! It has tea and cranberry seeds on the top and is colored with Maddar Root, Morrocan Red Clay, and a combination of the two.

@Jrose - your soap looks great! I used that same combo about 2weeks ago and also did a swirl. The scent faded at first, but seems stronger now.

@LavenderLady - I love the colors in your soap. And I bet it smells wonderful. :D

@Karri - I really like the way your soap is swirled on "top". Welcome to the addiction!

Mmm, melon and cucumber! Makes me pine for summer ;)

And I had never even thought of red tea as a scent!! I drink red tea (vanilla rooibos) every night actually :)

My swirls got a little squished by the wax paper so they were more exotic looking before. Darn eh? It's in the freezer now so I hope that it finally comes out!

Karri

Quick EDIT
Here are some quick pics from this batch:
http://twitpic.com/59mbm8 (rectangles - top swirl)
http://twitpic.com/59mdom (rectangles - bottoms)
http://twitpic.com/59me5u (ovals)

I think they turned out quite scrumptious looking in the end. However, I should have been more patient and let it cure longer because the soap tore away a TINY bit on the back side of the rectangle ones (diff kind of mold too) so not as smooth as it could be there. Not a big deal - just adds texture I suppose :)

Just wanted to post some pic of last week's projects:

Front - Cucumber Melon; Left - Cybilla Eden's Garden FO; Right - Willow Whispers
Image

I was trying to use up some of my "leftover" FOs and came up with these: Left - Tropical Vacation swirled with Cranberry Pomegranate (this one smells sooo good!); Right - Blackberry Cobbler (Deluxe Vanilla swirled with Blackberry Spice)

Very nice! I like the green and the floral texture in the Willow Whispers.

@LJM, Thank you, I really like the coloring too. The picture isnt that great, but in person it is very nice. And it does smell really great!
@ Jrose, thank you! I maybe should have put them in the batch too, but I do like them on top. The scent is very yummy!
@Mella, thank you! I love the crinkle cut and usually do mine with it, and I almost always color with natural stuff. in fact, I think I only have one mica to my name Lol.
@Karri, you should try the red tea fragrance, it is really nice! Your first link says the picture has been removed. The other two are nice soaps, especially for a first attempt! Keep up the good work.

@LJM- Man I cant get over how much I love that wilton sheet imprint! Those are just beautiful! I am going to have to break down and get me one! Your soaps look pretty! I did a willow whispers a few days ago too! I think I like the scent so far, how about you? Is your Eden's Garden a lab color pink, maddar root or what?

@LavenderLady - I wasn't sure if the cocoa scent would hold up in the soap either but thought it would make for a pretty color combo. I've read here and there on the web that cocoa powder possibly is beneficial to the skin but the jury seems to be out on this one.

@ ljm1180 That Blackberry Cobbler soap is fabulous! I'm imagining how it smells. YUM :)

Thanks everyone!

@LavenderLady - I just ordered some madder root from BB because of your soap. :D
The Eden's Garden & the Trpoical Vacation are both Lemon Yellow and Flamingo Pink lab colors. (I know they'll bleed but I think it'll be ok :?: ) So far I'm liking the Willow Whispers. My sister thinks it stinks, but what does she know?
Is the red tea FO from BB?
