I have been making soap favor for my friend's bridal shower. All of the soaps came out a great copper color and look just beautiful, except for the last batch. The last batch of soaps (approx. 100 bars) have what looks to be crystals on them. The crystals are soft and wipe off easily, but they return within a day or so, even though they are sealed. Is there anything that I can do to salvage the batch? I have to admit, I let the batch come to a boil. Unfortunately, I am completely out of fragrance so I cannot just simply whip something up.
I think that the soaps with the crystals actually look really unique wrapped in the bags that I have prepared. I would, however, like for them all to be consistent.

It could be from boiling the MP, or it could be humidity is higher now then before. You could try dusting them with corn starch to help with the sweating, but those will end up looking different.

I've had that happen to me too! I did a batch of cupcakes for a birthday party and little crystals formed on some of the cherries in my frosting. The customer actually liked the look and didn't know it was a boo-boo as far as I was concerned. Maybe just intersperse them with all your others and call it a day. I bet no one will even notice!

....and now you've learned a soapy lesson, just as we all have at some point or another =)

Me too!!! I have had to remove all MP soaps from my shop. Its been really humid here and its an ugly mess. I agree that boiling the soap makes it worse, in my experience, but it happens.

I could be wrong on this, but based upon what I've noticed of my unwrapped vs. wrapped soaps at farmer's markets, the wrapped soaps sweat more. Would it help if they were unwrapped and put in front of a fan in a cool, dry area?

The soap definitely should not get hot enough to boil, I try not to even get it to steaming.

Have you tried placing the soap in front of a fan as soon as it is unmolded? I would leave it there for a little bit and then wrap them up tightly with saran or shrink wrap. Make sure you seal it with a hair dryer or heat gun so the wrapping is snug against the soap. If the wrapping is loose or if it is just in a loose bag then it will continue to sweat.

Ann-Marie has a Soap Queen video on how to shrink wrap your soap using regular plastic wrap and a heat gun. :)

Yep. I just use plain old saran wrap from the grocery store and shrink it with my hair dryer. Others prefer actual shrink wrap (you can get this online) and for that you would need a stronger heat gun to shrink it.

Here is the video; http://www.youtube.com/user/soapqueentv ... D4bJgtaHMg

She uses a heat gun. You can try your hair dryer first and if it isn't strong enough you can go up to a heat gun. I think it just depends on the hair dryer, mine works wonderfully. :D
