Hi, everyone my name is Wendy and I am new to the CP soapmaking world, I have been reading the forum, watching youtube videos, reading all the how to's on the internet, books, etc...

What I would like to do is make a very natural, skin softening, high lather soap, I was thinking my base recipe would include goat's milk and or shea butter so as reading and watching videos I have seen often people stating they purchase only high quality raw materials direct from places like Africa, I have searched and searched for suppliers in Africa to make some of these purchases and have come up blank. Does anyone have any links to any suppliers that they could share. I have also seen people referring to them purchasing direct dead sea salts and clay but couldn't find any of these suppliers either.

One last thing, I have found so many recipes and all of them are so drastically different, like I said earlier I really just want to make an all natural soap using goat's milk and then later maybe tweak adding coloring and/or scents, anyone willing to share a basic recipe for me to try I would greatly appreciate it.

I am sooooo EXCITED to make my first batch, thank you in advance for any help that is provided!!
:D :D :D :D :D :D

Welcome Wendy!
It depends where you are located. Here is a vendor list that's arranged by state. http://www.suppliersbystate.com/ I don't buy anything from Africa. I buy from the US.
Since you want an all natural soap, will you be making your own lye? That's the only way you can claim all natural soap.
Take a look at Kathy Miller web site for sample soap recipes and instructions. http://www.millersoap.com/
Or search this forum. Lots of good info here.

Wendy, you don't need exotic oils to make wonderful soap. If I we're you Id start with the 3 or 4 basic easy to find oils. Olive, palm or lard or tallow, coconut and caster ( you should be able to get most of this from the grocery store and go from there. There is no point in putting allot of money into this when your first learning. This can get very expensive. Good luck.

Get ready to field all sorts of questions, how you answer them will determine whether or not you make the sale.

Hi Wendy! One of my favorite soap recipes is made with 65% Olive Oil, 32% Coconut Oil and 3% Castor Oil. (for a 1# batch that would be 10.5 oz Olive, 5 oz Coconut and .5 oz Castor) This makes a nice hard bar that lathers well and doesn't make your skin feel dry. :P

I am new also. I have learned so much. I bought a while back,,Ok years ago a lot of the oils, scale , pan, stick blender mold( silicon muffin ). Got so scared of the lye I never made them. I need someone to show me how to do things. I am going to go see what I can buy locally , and buy the rest on line. I ended up using the oils that I had in cooking. Did get a ton of melt and pour to get me started. I did not want to wait 6 weeks..=) thanks for all the help and feilding questions.
