Wow, reading through this was a major blast from the past! I doubt anyone really remembers me but, soaping has drawn me back yet again, this time with money-making most definately in sight!
I've been lurking back here on TeachSoap for a week, catching up with all the familiar old names, smiling happily at all the new ones and seriously can't believe it's been nearly 2 years since I was here...or nearly 18months since I made my last bar of soap!

It was a combination of finances, recession, real life and all those other things that got in the way and soaping was put on the back (double hehe) burner for a while which turned into a long while.
But I'm back and starting again after so many people kept saying "Oh why don't you make that lovely soap anymore, we'd love to buy some if you could sell it..." (now they tell me!

), so I'm looking at doing this properly now, safety assessments all the way woots!
I'm still very much in the "research" phase and trying to work out if I can REALLY make this work etc, money, profit calculations, stock storage, websites and outlets for sale...and so on and so on and so on lol. Which, of course, has led me to a place where I yet again have a lot of questions...and given the break in soaping I feel like a total newbie again too!
My first question was about fragrancing. I'm trying to work out the wholesale and retail price of a single slice of loaf soap and I'm kinda stuck on working out how much fragrance I would be using in that single slice, or in a ful loaf if I'm honest, fragrancing was never my strong point lmao! I can't help but look at the "you roughly want to use xx oz of fragrance per xx lb of soap" formulas and think "HOW MUCH?!", it always seems such a huge amount! I don't know if it's perhaps just my personal tastes thinking that these amounts would make the fragrance overwhelmingly strong, or if it's because it compensates for fading or, or, or...
I am hoping that my math is way wrong, otherwise I'm going nuts I think lol, so can anyone tell me how many millilitres of fragrance and/or essential oil you would expect to use in a 2lb loaf of soap? Because either my convertors are wrong or my math is even worse than I thought....I mean okay, I'm not a huge fan of really strong scented soap, I'm more of a delicate fragrance kinda chick, but I would have thought the kinds of amounts I've somehow been working out would just be bad for your skin
Help please!
(I bet you all remember me now....'Oh god, it's the Brit with all the damn questions....')
