I think clear looks really nice. If you are doing a loaf mold though, and will be cutting the soap into slices so you can see the inside, then coloring the soap can look good too.

I am using a bar mold that is square but has lines on it to show you where to cut. You can see what I mean here...

I am just going to randomly drop the chunks in and then cut on the lines when hard. What do you think? Or should I do a loaf mold? I don't know. I have to have it ready by 4:00 so I have time to wrap and put in a pretty bag. We have meet the teacher tonight and then I am going to keno right after where the gift will be given. I won't have time between the 2 events to get it done.

No, I think you should stick with your original plan and do the chunk soap with clear base and randomly placed chunks. If you do a loaf soap, it might not set up in time for you to cut it up and wrap it before you have to get ready for your 2 events. With the rectangular bar mold, the soap will be ready/set in less time (especially if you stick it in the freezer for a few minutes) than the loaf soap, IMHO.

I agree! Especially with the mold you want to use. It is not thick enough to really see the chunks if you color the soap.

Clear soap will look the best for that mold, I think.

I did the bar mold instead of a loaf. I also used the suggestion about a tad bit of blue in the clear. Worked like a charm! It is going to look really cool. I will take some pics and post them probably tomorrow. Thank you all so much for your help. I am learning so much from this board. It's great!
