I live on the farm and we have plenty of free range eggs to go around. I have found a couple recipes for egg CP soap but I am unsure how many eggs to use if say I want to make 3 lb batch. I guess my question is how do I go about using the correct amount of eggs and what would be the best way of mixing in the eggs?

Thanks TS forum

Try 1 egg to 1 lb. of soap. Temper the egg into your oils; otherwise the eggs will look scrambled. Be aware that your soap might turn some shade of green temporarilly.

Eggs have been used for centuries for the complexion. During the Victorian times they used eggs in soap because of the benefits on the skin. Benefits like lightening, tightening, shrinking pores, redness, breakouts.

I would agree with fullamoon though and mention somewhere on the packaging that the soap contains eggs (if you're planning to sell) because they are a common allergen :)

I would have never thought to put egg in soap, but it does make sense for the benefits of them ^_^

I'm curious to see how egg soap will come out to be, the color and the scent. Would you please post a photo when you do make one, complexbeauty?!

I will cat! :)
My next batch of soap will be a facial soap, so it will be a bit before I get around to the egg soap.

Alyssa, expect your soap to smell pretty bad for a but too, along with turning green. It will change, as SB said, but a lot of people havent known that and have freaked out for a bit thinking that they have messed up somehow. Also, some people use just the egg yolks. The white part is easier to cook and get those white specks, so make sure that you do the tempering bit or you will have scrambled eggs throughout.
Much luck and have fun! :D

By tempering you mean to mix the eggs with the oils? right? when the oils are nice and warm 110F add the blended eggs.

Be careful combining oils and lye at a low temp. Make sure that you have true trace and your oils haven't started to solidify.
