Hi,
I used all my water soluble paper that I just received.

WOW! It does a job on the printer for sure! I used a Kodak pigment printer injet. It didn't get stuck, but even after the first sheet it heated up and the ink smeared. I didn't need to tape any sheets to a piece of regular paper. The paper size was regular letter size; so that worked. I finally got one sheet printed and it came out very nice.

Does anyone know if Office Max or some other place carries it to hold me over while I'm waiting for an order? I hate to wait! :(

It is really fun embedding images in soap!

I was at Joann Fabrics this weekend picking up some fabric and had wondered about using Sulky Soluble Stabilizer paper in soap. It's used for embroidery and stuff. You print on it and use it for embroidery and such the just dissolve it away in water.

But otherwise I've never seen anything like that at regular paper stores :(

Thank you Wintermoon. This sounds like interesting and fun embroidery!

I went ahead and ordered a whole bunch of paper; so I will just have to be patient! :)

Hi,
I just sprayed my water soluble paper with hairspray to protect the images I printed on it with my pigment inkjet printer. I don't think I want all these chemicals in the hairspray in my soap! YUK!

Do you think the hairspray evaporates when it dries and is all right to use?

Hairspray has a lot of alcohol. I bet most of it evaporates.

I would think so, too.
Maybe that's why it states to let it sit for 2 days; so the alcohol can evaporate.
Thanks, Soapbuddy!

I wonder if making your own natural hairspray would work as well as a fixative as the store bought with the chemicals?

I would take out the glycerin and the aloe vera gel from the recipe because those may make the ink bleed... plus, it would be cool to make your own hairspray that is totally natural!

tcmatteson, reading about how to make hairspray was really interesting!

I looked at the sprayed pictures this morning. I just don't like the looks of them. They didn't breed, but there appears to be a heavy lacquer over them. I took them outside and sprayed them; so I did spray quite a bit of hairspray on them. I think I'm going to start over and have my images printed out on a lazer printer. These are for children's soaps and I just wouldn't want to take the chance if chemicals are left over.

tcmatteson, thanks for the idea!

I just tried the water soluable paper...and I won't use it again. Waterslide paper is what I use and I'm sticking to it. I'll list the soluable paper for sale..if anyone is interested.

Hi taojonz,
Thank you for your feedback. I'm interested why won't you use water soluble paper again?
What is Waterslide paper and where do you buy it?

These embeds are so fun to do. I'm doing pictures of my pets. I change them into a watercolor first in PhotoShop and then embed them.

Kids can have soaps with pictures of their pets on them!

Waterslide is tissue paper thin, but not dissolveable. It prints really a photo quality with a lazer printer. The dissolveable paper is not as crisp and well, it dissolves. Watersllide images will stay with the soap almost until the whole bar is gone. That is what my customers want. No bleeding, no fuzzy image and an image that lasts.
