I've been working hard for the past two weeks on some soaps. Since I'm really new to the soap-making world, I've been focusing more on trying out the various techniques I've been seeing here on the forum and out on the web (I must admit, most of the techniques also come from watching SoapQueenTV
)
I decided to go for a Planetary theme, so here are the inner 5 planets plus the sun and moon (and please excuse me for posting so many freaking pictures! I'm trying to figure out the settings on my new camera). These are made with a mix of Aloe and Honey M&P bases:
Sun (Apricot Freesia FO and Bamboo Powder exfoliant)- hot pour second layer onto set first layer
Mercury (Celestial Waters FO)- layers (you can tell when I poured too hot or too soon for some of the layers, plus, the titanium dioxide didn't fully incorporate which is why the top looks speckled white)
Venus (Pomegranate and Black Currant FO)- angled layers
The orange was difficult for me to make for this one so here is my failed first attempt at making the orange color which I simply poured into a mold I had on hand:
Earth (Earth Musk FO)-
Moon (Lavender Bouquet FO and white pumice exfoliant)- did not turn out anything like I imagined as all my colors blended together. Poured in large amount of black colored base and immediately poured in silver and white. I was hoping for a convection swirl, which I got, but the colors blended too much in the process.
Mars (Berrywine FO)- simple cubed imbeds
Jupiter (Wasabi FO)- angled layers again
I will be working on the last of the planets (including Pluto) this week
I also have found myself adoring the look of CP and wanted to try my hand at emulating it a bit, so I created this soap for Mother's Day:
It didn't turn out quite how I wanted and I worried that the top bit of green was going to separate because I "poured" it when it pretty much set in my mixing cup. This was a mix of Lavender Bouquet FO and Earth Musk FO. Though I hated it at first, it's look is growing on me and I'm liking it much better. This was also a mixed base of Goats Milk, Shea, and Olive Oil M&P.
