Green tea is well known to contain 6 times more antioxidant than Vitamin E, but when using it to CP, how much of those good stuff actually survive?

Some people say they can tell the difference, but I can't. Since pure Vit E doesn't survive the lye monster, I doubt much of the therapeutic properties of the green tea survive.

I actually believe that it does. Afterall, tea is an infusion that comes into its own as it is steeped in heat. I make a nice green tea soap. I do allow it to steep for a very long time and make it very strong compared to what it would be if I were drinking it.

I add vitamin E oil at trace, am i wasting my vita E oil by doing this (does the lye eat it, making it useless?) I thought i was at least extending the life of my oils???

ps. I have made a nice chamomile soap a few times and thought it always had a sweet chamomile like scent which I really liked about it.

I think if you actually wanted to get any of the properties of the green tea into your soap, you'd want to add it to re-batch soap. That way the lye, which is an oxidizer, won't diffuse all those antioxidants in the green tea. Oxidizing agents (such as lye) and reducing agents (such as the antioxidents in tea) should pretty much cancel each other out, but since you have much more lye, it would just obliterate all the electron accepting compounds in the tea. I realize how redundant each sentence in this post is but I figure I should phrase it a few ways.
