Teach Soap

How do I know if my lye heavy soap needs oil or water in the rebatch?? What are the symptoms of each ? My soap is dry and crumbly and very lye heavy..

How lye heavy is it? You need oil to neutralize the lye. Water won't do it. Water is only as a carrier medium.

It is lye heavy enough to zap my tongue pretty good ! I may be wasting my time to try to rebatch but I have to try LOL !Thank you for the info.. I have never had a batch so crumbly! I have looked over my recipe and the only thing I did "different/new ,is to add coconut milk at trace and discount the water for the "milk".

I superfatted at 8% cold process. I have rebatched it after a month of cure.I grated the soap,added a few ounces of water and 4 ounces of oil. it heated on low in my crockpot for 4 hours (until I was satisfied with the texture lol) .I poured it into my 3 pound wood mold and let it sit covered all night. I just unmolded and it is quite soft..but it doesn't zap me anymore. I will use it for "something" ..I just could not throw it out!! lol Just had to try ! besides,how do you dispose of lye heavy soap bars !!? it is at least safer to touch now . I don't know if it will harden much and I don't know what the cure time should be....?

My recipe was 9.524 coconut , 9.524palm ,9.524 olive ,3.175 avacado o.Water 11.43,lye 4.53
