are there any benefits to using pureed carrots in CP, or is it used for color?

Do you get a nice orange color using carrots?

This is a recent soap I made using baby food carrots. It's a high olive oil recipe and I used no colorants at all. I've made this recipe before many times and it makes a great mild facial soap.

was just curious as I wasn't able to find much info on the benefits of using it...figured I'd buy a few jars of baby food to try anyway! I love the color it gives...how much do you use in a batch? I have goat milk and honey, which I'm thinking of using in this batch, and also making it unscented...wonder if it's going to be a stinky, unscented soap? lol

My carrot soap is unscented. I use carrot juice as most of the liquid.

I made some using a 2.5 oz jar of baby food carrots along with half & half for my liquid. It came out really nice. I added just a hint of cinnamon FO. It's a pretty pale orange color.

I just love the color orange, yet have not tried to soap that color. Maybe I will add this to my list of items to try in the fall. Maybe I could add an almond FO to it - just as a light scent. Very pretty falldowngobump!

Sometimes A Mistake is so much fun, You just have to do it again!

Last time I used fresh carrot to juice it and use it as half the water. It came out really orange like the carrot initially, almost blinding my eyes! And then the color toned down to nice mellow tan orange. Carrot is rich in vitamin A,B6,C,&K, but I don't know how much of those actually survive CP.

cat040876- my thoughts exactly...I didn't know if their qualities would survive CP. The color sure is pretty though!

Thanks everyone! I substituted the amount of baby food with the liquid. I think it was 4 oz in this batch. I also used coconut milk as my liquid--I always freeze it and then add the lye and stir like mad. It was very thick. I add the pureed carrots after I mix the oils and lye solution. I pulled a little out to do the swirl before I added the carrots--I wanted the swirl white looking. I scented with Yuzu, tea oil, rosemary oil, lavender and a little peppermint. Sounds nuts but it smells great.
