Teach Soap

I just made a batch of oatmeal and lavender that I bought in a pre-measured kit. I made the soap in milk cartons and just removed and cut by hand. The instructions say now it needs to sits 4 to 5 weeks before use, why so long?

It needs to cure for that long so the water can evaporate. Soap also gets milder as it cures. So give it time.

thanks soapbuddy. just read instructions again, 3 weeks not 5. also noticed that if i got it on my bare arm while cutting, it seemed to burn a little. hope that goes away.

How old is the soap now? How much was it superfatted? What was the amount of each ingredient that was used?

mixed last week and put in milk containers .. taken out and cut today. ingredients came in a kit and were supposed to be pre-measured. oils in one large container,lye in small bottle, and oatmeal and lavender in seperate packs.

Raw soap can burn/sting when it gets on your skin, but I've never had one burn after I've cut it, especially after a week! Soapbuddy, does it sound like it might be lye heavy?

rlt4life, where did you get the kit, if you don't mind my asking? I'm curious to see what was in it.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

kit was from botanie.com.... just to clarify, it wasn't a burn but rather a stinging not intense but i did notice it none the less
