Teach Soap

I have another flea market I really like, real bohemian. I tried another soap makers soap. It was only $2 for a chunk the same size I sell for $5. I assumed they really made it as it was sold off small logs and sliced in front of the customer. I'll never understand the appeal of handing a customer a squishy bar of soap.

I let it sit about a week before I used, no zap when it was squishy. It was equally sudsy to my own BUT my shoulders itched all day. Like when I wash with one of my bars before it has completely cured.

That's unfortunate that it made you itchy! I know that when you cure a whole log it takes much longer for the water to evaporate.

That's the problem. The newer the soap, the more drying or irritating it could be. It really does need a nice long cure after it's cut. When it's in a log form, all the water can't evaporate and it takes the soap longer to cure. Next time you see the crafter, I would let her know. She should know that her soap is irritating. Did you tell her that you were a soapmaker?
