Yesterday's experiment: sfic GM soap base, plus dried (already brewed) extra fine coffee grounds.
I had read quite a bit here and people say that the coffee grounds turned their soap tan or brown.
but that did not happen to me! My soap stayed a nice medium cream color, and the grounds are pretty little speckles.
The bars smell like coffee and cream - so far so good. The next test is to get some garlic or onion on my hands and then see if he coffee soap helps.

My hubby likes that I made it in a larger rectangle mold - says it is more macho ;)

Sounds like a cool soap, Kat! I hope it stays a nice creamy color for you. I've never tried to make a coffee soap before, but I've been curious how it would turn out. I'll bet it smells wonderful, and the specks of ground coffee sound pretty. Would love to see a pic, if you have one!

Hi Kat,
Isn't SFIC Goats Milk just wonderful? That is my favorite base!

Did you make coffee and then dry the grounds and use them? Maybe that's why the soap stayed a creamy color.

What do people do - just use the grounds in the soap or dry them after making coffee with them?

Do the grounds need to be ground up finer? What fragrance did you use with coffee?

I want to make a Chai Tea, but I'm not sure how to get that tea color.

Einnoc- (is that Connie?)
I don't know about Chi Tea (wasn't there a tutorial on soapqueen about that) but I made a sweet tea soap-pop using real tea that turned out pretty cool, just had to let it harden alittle longer...

glad your coffee soap came out nice. i like to make that the most. when i add my grounds they are wet, so it gives it a little darker color. plus i add vanilla fragrance. so that makes it turn even darker.(didn't use vanilla color stabilizer) Ive made green tea soap too. works nice for the face. reduces redness and swelling. what company do you buy your base from?? i bought from peak candle suply, and my soap didnt come out rite. all of the grounds sunk to the top of the mold! instead of staying mixed in to the whole bar. but i bought a m & p from michaels and it didnt do that. (used goats milk for coffe)

Ooh, we'll need pictures of the nice coffee soap ^_^ It sounds loverly!

And as for the tea in soap questions: here are two tea soaps that I made recently. Chai Tea on the left and Black Tea (Lipton's original loose tea was used) on the right. This is what the tea in the soap looks like after a week and a half of sitting. I didn't brew them beforehand, just stuck them in the soap as is :) Oh, and I used a mixture of BB's Goats Milk, Shea, and Olive Oil M&P bases.
