Well, after lots of reading and posting and asking questions, I made my first small experimental batch today.

Here is my recipe:
8oz BB goat's milk M&P base
1 tsp dark honey
2 1/2 tsp ground oatmeal
3/4 tsp ground vanilla beans

I have oval guest size moulds, and it made 4 bars - last one a bit short ;)

It looks nice...just going on "the look" as I stirred, I think I could use less ground vanilla and more oatmeal.

now comes the hardest part...waiting.... I know it will cool fairly soon, but how long should it sit out before using or wrapping in order to harden up a bit?

For MP or glycerin soaps you can use it as soon as it cools off. I would wrap it in some saran wrap or put it into a ziploc bag so it doesn't dry out.

Hubby tried the soap - he said he liked it, that it felt smooth and creamy, but it had "no suds"....

MP soap will never have as many bubbles as the synthetic bars you buy at the supermarket. They have surfactants added.

But you will feel cleaner than the commercial junk.

Yeah, mp may lack in bubbles, but those are more for visual appeal anyway. Bubbles doesn't mean clean :)

Also - I tried the soap - I thought the lather was fine!!

Hi,
I read somewhere about using a Nylon Bath Pouf with M&P. I just bought one & it's amazing!
My soap really lathers up! Using a Pouf really makes a HUGE difference!

Does anyone know where I can buy a bunch of these to offer on my website? They are offering them at FNWL right now, but are there any other places that sell them wholesale?
Thanks,
einnoc

wow - funny you should post this!! I was just this very minute looking at those online!!

Try this link: http://www.bathessential.com/products.php?cat=17

Oddly, tho - they sell them by weight - how large is a 50g sponge or a 30 gr one?

How about weighing yours (dry!) for me in exchange for the link ;)

I found a package of three for $1 at the Dollar store. You might want to try that, since you won't have to pay extra for shipping.

Hi Kat,
http://curezone.com/conversions.asp
This is great conversions calculator.
30 grams = 1.058 oz
50 grams = 1.764 oz

I think the 30 G Nylon Bath Pouf is just not as full as the 50 G one.

I bought the 50 G one. I love it!!!

FNWL has the 30 gram Nylon Bath Poufs for a 50 pack for $35.00. These are on Clearance.
I will on http://www.bathessential.com/products.php?cat=17
Maybe this is a better deal.

Soapbuddy. there aren't any Dollar Stores out here! There are Big Lots. I should look there! People get so many good deals there. I use to go there when I lived in the east.
