Okay, I finally got around to experimenting with combining MP and CP.
First, I apologize for the pictures. I don't seem to be able to get a clearly focused picture, in spite of my supposedly auto-focus camera!
I'll have to see if I can scrounge up the instruction manual later.
Secondly, somebody (I think it was Soapbuddy) told me that there is "no right or wrong way to do this". Umm, I think I'm going to have to disagree a bit on that.
The first ones are an attempt to do a swirl using MP as the swirling material. I think for that one I shouldn't have put MP on the bottom of the mold. I should have poured the CP a bit sooner - it was at about a medium trace, but beginning to accelerate. Lily of the valley FO for those of you without Smell-O-Vision on your PCs or Macs.
The first one shows the tops of the bars after they were cut. The next one is kind of the swirl that wasn't.
I'm a bit happier with how the other batch turned out. I was using a FO called "Fresh Bamboo", which came from BB. The day before I made the CP part, I had made a flat sheet of MP with the same scent. It got colored a dark green. The day I made the CP, I took the sheet (which was a rectangle) and cut it into three long strips. I poured a bit of the CP in the bottom of the mold, then stood the strips parallel to one another on the long side. Then I poured the rest of the CP over that.
The only real problem I had with this on was that once I started pouring the CP over the strips, the strips tended to fall over. I had a friend helping me, and she's holding the strips in place (wearing gloves, of course!) while I pour the CP. It was kind of a Marx Brothers moment.
Next time for this one I think I'll put more CP in the bottom of the mold before I add the strips - at least half-full or maybe more than that.
Anyway, I got one I'm happy with and one not so much. On to more experimentation!
Anita
P.S. My soap room smells WONDERFUL!
