Don't change the title. I for one clicked on it because I wasn't sure what it meant. If it hadn't piqued my curiosity I would have missed out on seeing your beautiful soap. They really are eye candy. I think Soap Dancer would be a great name for the soap!

You could always call it Happy Soap Dancer Soap.

Mella, I love your choice of color combination. What would be great is if you could do a video demonstration and post either here or on you tube, please? Or if you do not have the ability to do this maybe Ann Marie could do one? PLEASE?

Oh - you did the swirl after the soap gelled? I may try that instead of an ITP swirl next time![/quote]

Yes I did the swirl after the cook because by the time I poured the last bit into a sample mold the cardboard
dividers when pulled out of the soap actually left a space, a valley in the soap! That is a quick set up there! So I did the cook to bring the soap to full gel then did the swirl! LOL Save!! Lucky save I should say!

They are amazing! I do not understand still how they come out looking like that, but I love them. I am the worst with doing any kind of swirling.

I have never heard of swirling after once it reaches gel phase. Now I am even more excited to try. It will have to wait until after our trip out east. I have a few projects to get done, not to mention have to do the taxes yet

So let me see if I have this straight. You divide the mold, pour in your 1 colors to about half, pour in your contrast swirl color for a layer or just a strip?, finish filling up both sides with their perspective colors, then remove divider. IF it has not accelerated too much, you stick in a thin something and do an S swirl up the length of the mold, from side to side, once up and once down, or just once?
Then, when cutting, you need to cut lengthwise in the middle first, then cut the bars? Is that right? If not, could you please explain the cut to me. I am easily confused when I cant see something! Lol. I have tried this but my 1st attempt accelerated to almost soap on a stick and my oven is broken, so no smart save like yours. Not to mention, my mold was very narrow, so if I cut it like I think I needed to, it wouldnt have been too big of a bar. But it is pretty all the same, unique I should say, so I am happy. But I really want to try this again!

Thanks for all your help Mella! The only other tutoring on this swirl are from the you buy it places, so you are helping to save us all some money!

Tammy yes only used 1 1/2 cups of green soap and only made one long pour down the divider in each mold. So 3/4 c of green in a stripe down the middle as close as possible, then fill mold. Remove dividers carefully and I only did the swirl down once, but used the straight end of a dinner spoon about 1/2 inch thick.

Pour your mold total 2 inches deep at lease and split it horizontally into 1 inch deep logs, then cut the individual bars. The pretty design is in the middle of the soap, so when you split the bar it is there. HTH

Here is a post on another forum that might be a bit clearer good pics too

Mella, my first attempt at a 2 color mantra swirl was a complete flop! LOL
I divided my soap into half and colored one half chrome green and the other half with TD, then added .5 oz Gardenia FO to each half. The green half immediately started glopping so into the mold it went. The other half behaved very well and poured at medium trace (so I can't blame this on the FO). Unfortunately I couldn't swirl because the green side was already set up! CPOP for almost an hour then tried swirling. No go. So now I have a nice layered soap. Oh well.

But, I WILL try this again!

I poured at applesauce and it all went in the oven darn! Swirled after it came out of the oven. Of course it was a floral.
Yes at light trace I did the pour for the first two, and applesauce and cpop for the third the Happy Dancer soap!

That isn't a dowel across the top but I'm sure that would work. Those are deli tooth picks.

ljm No, both colors stayed on their sides of the divider. The green was so thick that I didn't really need to hold the divider in place when I poured the other side. So when I sliced the soap, it was more layered rather than swirled. Maybe next time. :P

You need to pour both colors simultaneous as this keeps each soap on their side of the divide. It is a two fisted pour that keeps the pressure of each soap on it's side of the divider. Does that make sense?
