I made this soap by making a solid white circle, then cutting it into quarters and placing two opposing pieces into two separate circular molds (each with a clear liquid layer already poured into it). Then I poured the lavender into each corner, going back and forth two or three times to make sure I got the corners even. The "blossoming" look in the lavender was a total accident, but I really like it! When I tried to recreate it, I just got solid lavender. Does anyone know how I might do this again? I assume it has something to do with temp?

I have no idea, but that looks pretty cool!

Thanks everyone! Now if I could just figure out how in the world I did it!

PurpleMolly, I didn't use mica, but that's a great tip. I used a little each of red and blue soap color bars that I had left over from WSP. (Trying to use up what I got from them so I can go exclusively BB... it's amazing how much nicer and more pure their products are.)

ljm, you're probably right, it must have just been a temp difference. I didn't think it took very long for me to go back and forth to each corner, but next time I try to redo this I'll let each corner (and the unpoured soap) each cool just a little before I pour again.

Thank you all again for help, I would be utterly lost without this forum.

That was my first guess.... it looks like the first pour started to set up a little and had a thin skin on it. Then when you poured again it broke through the skin and kind of blossomed through the soap. =)

When I coloured some clear M&P with mica, I used too much, and this is what happened.

As I watched, it kept changing shape, like clouds in the sky. It was quite fascinating.

That is beautiful! It reminds me of the little violets we have growing in our yard. :P
